Youth Group Update

We had a great Youth Group turnout last night. The food spread was amazing, including chips and salsa, cookies and homemade stromboli.

The much touted xbox soccer rematch between Josh and Matt didn't happen as Josh was a no-show. Apparently it had something to do with fear of being humiliated yet again. But for those keeping track, that forfeit puts Matt up 3 games to 0.

For our lesson, we discussed the video shown below. This is a popular video on the Internet about a young boy calling into a Christian radio station to discuss something that had happened in his life. The video makes a great point that whenever you feel so overwhelmed by something in your life, God definitely understands and is there for you.

Looking Sharp

Carla gave me a cd with some Bible School and tball pictures on it. I found this picture on that same cd and thought I would share it with everyone. These guys clean up pretty good!

Earthquake at Hemenway?!?!

Was there an earthquake at Hemenway during the June 29th service? You be the judge in the video below...

Actually, I wanted to take a minute to thank Joe and Carla for filming the opening of worship during our services the past few weeks. That is where all of these wonderful videos come from. They do a great job!

Testimony - June 29th Service

One thing that makes Hemenway unique is the inclusion of our youth in the service. John gives a great example here in his testimony where he talks about a scary situation on a canoe trip that happened so fast that he forgot to ask God for help, however when he paused to look back on what had happened, he knew God was taking care of him even when he had not asked for help.

Thank you John for reminding us of that wonderful fact!

June 29th Service

Here's a few videos from our June 29th service. Rob spoke about the importance of including the mind in what we do, not just going through the motions because something is so familiar to us.

The service opened with a song called "Get All Excited", which is an old popular Gaither tune.



The choir paid a Fourth of July tribute by singing a patriotic medley that included America, Battle Hymn of the Republic, and America the Beautiful.



The offertory was a song entitled "Call on Jesus". This song was made popular by the Christian singer Nicole C. Mullen, who also sings "Redeemer". The words to the chorus are very inspirational (shown below). The chorus is what you hear played on the piano in the video.

Meeting Someone Famous

Admit it - we've all thought about what it would be like to meet someone famous. We wonder if we'd be casual or nervous, be able to make good jokes and conversation, etc. Well, here's Caroline meeting Marshall Hall (the baritone in the Gaither Vocal Band) a few months back when they came through Evansville.

I wonder if this is how she imagined she would do when meeting her idol? :)
